  1. The best method to finding a weekday is John Conway's Doomsday Method.
  2. First, know that every year there are certain dates that all land on the same weekday. The dates are:
    • 4/4, 6/6, 8/8, 10/10, & 12/12
    • 9/5 & 5/9, 7/11 & 11/7
    • The last day of February
    • 1/3, unless it's a leap year, then 1/4
    • Conway calls these "anchor days"
  3. To get a year's doomsday, do the following:
    • Think of the numbers 0 through 6 as Sunday through Saturday
    • Start with 2 for 2000s, 3 for 1900s, 5 for 1800s, 0 for 1700s
    • Look at the last two digits of the year
    • Add in the number of 12s in those digits
    • Add in the remainder after dividing by 12
    • Add in the number of 4s in the remainder
    • Take that number and divide it by 7 -- then look at the remainder
    • That number is the number of the doomsday
    • Find the closest anchor day to your date and count from there
